A Spring Update

We cleaned our house this weekend, which for some reason feels like the most incredible thing ever. I think this is seriously the first time it has been this clean since Charlie girl joined our family.

Spring is a great time to bring in fresh flowers. We are currently working with a landscaper to develop a fresh cut flower bed in our backyard, because I'm OBSESSED with having fresh flowers in our house at all times. They smell great and even if the counter is full of crap, the fresh flowers just always makes me feel good.

All of the flowers here are from Whole Foods, they have a GREAT selection of flowers. I even found some cherry blossom stems (flowers on a stick, is what I called them because Mom Brain), which are not pictured because they haven't opened up yet, but look for them on my Instagram or on Facebook

(Picture of the little one by Edoo Photography) Yeah, I made that and the flower arrangement, haha!

Close Enough Cinnamon Rolls - Grain Free, Vegan, Sugar Free

Like that title did ya?! So these are a great sweet treat that taste close enough to cinnamon rolls that it will at least satisfy your craving. Wow I'm really selling them huh....

But seriously, these were actually good, they don't have that same amazing fluffy flour full and egg full and sugar full, but they are a perfect sweet snack or breakfast treat (maybe I should have started with that instead).

This recipe is actually quite simple, the biggest trick is the rolling of the dough into a log, but a little practice with parchment paper and it will be a breeze!

Rainbow Carrot Tart - Vegan

Rainbow carrots are the prettiest things I ever did see.....

Not only are they beautiful, but they taste delicious. Anything with that purply color (carrots or even potatoes) have antioxidants in them just like berries, so this is a great way to bring some extra into your diet if you aren't a berry kind of person.

This tart is on pie crust dough, I used to hand cut in the butter and I took a pie class and we used a food processor and things have never been the same. It is SO much easier to use a food processor when making pie dough.

You can make this as a dessert or even a main dish, I thought it was super yummy...I personally have been eating it as a snack throughout the past few days.

Homemade Almond Milk

If someone would have told me 3 or 4 years ago how easy almond milk was to make, I would have had my own little almond milking factory by now. HA. (I mean I guess I could have done the research and actually tried it myself).

But seriously, almond milk is SO EASY to make and if you enjoy cooking you will enjoy this, I'm not sure if it is cost effectively different or better.

Favs - Nursing Workout Wear

Let's get real. I am an over buyer and I know it. I feel like I need something for whatever I am doing, so since I am nursing and "working out" I needed workout wear with ease of nursing in mind.

I'm going to be totally honest and say working out hasn't been a huge priority for me, and trust me I am still unhappy with how I look and I have some pounds to lose or at least muscles to tone. Having two kids is hard, and even having one baby is tough. It is tough to feed/pump, maintain the house, get the other kid ready and oh yeah I need to workout, but I'm exhausted. But seriously, who works out at home on the regular... I need accountability. I need to go somewhere, so it usually just doesn't happen.

I had a super fit pregnancy, I only gain about 25 pounds, and I have about 10 pounds left to lose. It is hard! I'm hungry ALL THE TIME, and realistically I will probably hold onto that weight until I am done breastfeeding, because that is how I was with Kollin. Now that Charlotte is about 4 months old, I have started doing more of a workout routine, I'm trying for at least 30 minutes per day and incorporating weights. After saying all that, I will say this....I don't actually have a scale, that's just what the scale at the my dr. office said the other day. I use my clothes and just how I look to judge my own body, if my pants are too tight, I need to drop weight. If my belly is to pudgy in my top its time to cut back, and so on.... I don't REALLY need to lose 10 pounds, I need to tighten up and I will be happy, because I never know what the numbers are anyway.

Anyway, I don't want to bore you with "I hate my post baby body" because my friends hear it enough, so I thought I would get real about active wear and what has worked for me post baby and nursing!

Vegan GF Cookie Dough Ice Cream

This is kid approved, which is basically the most important part. Also, you can opt out of the chocolate chips and there will be no white process sugar!  WIN WIN. Super creamy, super filling, super delicious.
