A Little Armenian Dinner - Tabouli and "Beans and Rice" (or in Turkish - Fasulya ve Pilav)

Lets start with a very cool history lesson about my paternal side of my family, (trust me when I say my maternal side is also just as interesting), family food like this tells always tells a story.

My Grandmother's family is originally from Turkey, but was forced out in the Armenian Genocide (this was no small thing, it happened during WWI and an estimated 1.5 million Armenians were killed) and eventually found their way over to Iraq. My Grandfather is British and fought in the British Air Force, and met my Grandmother's brother first, in Egypt, and decided to then write to my Grandmother. They ended up getting married and traveled all around the world. After landing in Australia, my father was born and then eventually my father and his family moved to the states.

So unfortunately since my father wasn't born here he could never be President...but who wants that job anyway!

This dish has been changed a little and each of my dad and his brothers and sisters make it a slightly different way, so this is my immediate family's adaptation...

We call it TABOULI (or you may also see it at other places called Tabbouleh)
