Living Room Update - Time to Relax

The before: (These are pics from the listing, so not our furniture)
This room needed a complete overhaul. We painted, refinished the flooring and we purchased all new furniture. There is still a few things we need to add but it's finally not a mess and livable. (I used my iPhone for the new pics and some of the pics didn't turn out that great)

We started with paint, luckily this was one of the few rooms that didn't have wallpaper. We painted the fireplace wall and all the accent trim a deep bronze/grey.

After painting and before flooring...we literally slept in our living room one night because our bedroom didn't have any flooring yet.

Next we stained the floors all one color to a medium walnut wood.

We also updated the blinds. They used to be white blackout shades and we added black solar shades that you can see through, but they block out 97% of the light. And I am thrilled with them. Much more modern feel and you can see the backyard.
Before: Regular Shades

We we going for a lot of texture mixing and just a contemporary/ modern take on furniture that still feels homey.

Many of our accessories were from our old house, or I amped them up. I purchased a few things from Goodwill (such as the ottoman that I DIYed) and a lot of the vases I just spray painted.

The candelabra is my favorite. It was $10 and this awful brass color, and viola... An updated piece.
Another is this massive vase. Ugly clear thing I purchased at Goodwill for $2.99. Add spray paint and flowers and you have a minimalist accessory decor. Amazing.

We still need to add artwork and some things in the entry way but I love how it turned out.
